Deltiimo – “Welcome To The Real World Every Little Thing” (Ricky Louca Aged 9 Tech House Radio Mix) – Single Review
Yep. That is indeed a title that is longer than a single line in Microsoft Word. #KeepEmShortYall
So…hmm…what’s the best way to approach this…lemme see, lemme see. I suppose the accurate way to summarize a track like “Welcome To The Real World Every Little Thing” would be to say that it’s a family-friendly single, and if that’s your jam, then right on, turn it on up y’all. I can certainly get behind it on a compositional level, or in terms of song structure and whatnot…is it gonna be what some random bearded guy like myself in his forties is gonna regularly put on his playlist? Probably not if I’m being entirely honest with ya, but that doesn’t make what we’re listening to here any kind of bad song, it’s just targeted towards a completely demographic than I would personally fit into is all. Is it catchy? Sure! Does it have a good electro-based beat like we know we can count on Deltiimo for? Yep! And how about Ricky Louca, aged nine? He does fine for being all of nine years-old at the time…not sure what else we could ask of the young fella – he holds his own just fine, and I could certainly imagine him blasting this new track featuring his voice loud & proud wherever he ends up going this summer.
As far as where you’ll find this song out there online, it’s another part of the soundtrack that Gary Louca, aka Deltiimo, has been building for his animated series The Spirit Of Toronto. Ultimately, I think we’ve gotta understand where he’s coming from as a dedicated parent/grandparent with a gift for creating Techno & Electro music…dude really just wants to create stuff for the kids out there to have a great time listening to, and right on, that’s very sweet of him. He’s had years & years of being a professional in his craft and he’s made music in all kinds of ways throughout the course of his career…I’m not gonna be the guy to tell him to write songs for the adult crowd when it’s completely and totally up to him in terms of how he wants to spend his time in the ol’ studio. Execution-wise, “Welcome To The Real World Every Little Thing” has the professionalism you’d expect to find in the way Deltiimo approaches the art, and heck, there’s still a good chance that there will be many grown-ups out there that will look at a song like this as a wonderful alternative to The Wiggles for the millionth time, or just about anything else out there in the realm of kid-friendly material. I stayed far, far away from the whole having children thing & landed safely on the other side of that scenario at this point in life – so technically, I don’t even have the faintest clue as to what they listen to or what parents would find cool…but I’d have to imagine this is at least close, or provides another solid alternative to what’s likely out there, yes? I’m absolutely guessing.
Anyhow. Maybe children’s music is most noteworthy for being memorable and easy to sing along with – maybe that’s the real key as to identifying what does or doesn’t work. If that’s the case, I’d certainly be willing to bet that “Welcome To The Real World Every Little Thing” ticks all the right boxes in that regard. Is it gonna drive parents nuts like “Let It Go” or Kidz Bop does? Probably! Isn’t that also a main staple of family-friendly tunes, or like, some kind of unwritten requirement? I think the rule is that by the 1000th spin you have to officially be ready to beg for something else as an adult, otherwise is it really even a hit with the kids? On the bright-side of that scenario, Deltiimo has made it mathematically quick to reach that goal…there are technically another seven variations of “Welcome To The Real World Every Little Thing” out there on the official EP, with there being a “Radio Mix,” the “Ricky Louca Aged 9 Tech House Extended Mix,” the “Gary Louca & Philip Graham Own & Naif 2013 House Mix,” the “Gary Louca & Marcus Crowe Original 1992 Ballad Mix,” the “Extended Club Mix,” the “Tech House Radio Mix,” and of course the “Tech House Extended Mix” as well, because you wouldn’t wanna forget that! You get the point I’m making I’m sure – if you dig what you hear in this particular single, fret not – there’s a whole lot more of it for you to enjoy out there, up to & including the animated video that comes along with it.

So don’t get me wrong – for the right audience and the right demographic, clearly there’s a lot here to be enjoyed…it’s just all about knowing where to find those people online, and knowing that the family-orientated crowd of listeners will also find you as time goes on. As for us old folks, like I said, I can always appreciate the quality & craft that a veteran of the scene like Gary Louca brings to the table as Deltiimo, I can definitely get behind the sound of a professional singer like Lisa Love Barron, and I can even dig the fact that a then nine year-old son was able to contribute to the world of music at such an early age. That is kind of where it all starts & stops for myself personally this time around…the appreciation of it all…but once again, I’m well outside of the target audience for a track like this. Is your kid gonna love it? I’m gonna have to assume that’s very likely, and respectfully bow out from there. Great to see that Gary is continuing on with his passion project with the music of The Spirit Of Toronto, right up to & including the introduction of his own animated character of DJ Barney Deltiimo in the video you’ll see up top. If you’re looking for “good times” and “sunshine” – “Welcome To The Real World Every Little Thing” (Ricky Louca Aged 9 Tech House Radio Mix) is definitely able to supply ya with all that & more for the summer ahead, and provides you with a new chapter of the soundtrack for The Spirit Of Toronto as the story carries on from here.
