If you read through our review on the song posted up here yesterday at the ol’ homepage, you’ve got an idea of what “Tyrant” is all about and its ties to the lore of Vlad The Impaler, and its intentions overall being aimed at being a protest song that is designed to rail against the growing threats of “political corruption and political tyrants” we see happening all over the place around the world. Now you get to see that more clearly on a visual level by experiencing the video, which not only features really clever shots of OB hidden on display along the way, but gives you some additional historical context, like seeing the The Poenari Castle which was once home to Vlad himself in Transylvania, Romania, plus additional tie-ins to the whole Dracula/Vampire thing, which likely serves as an even larger metaphor to how the elite suck the blood outta the masses.
As with all things that Omar Bowing has taken part in throughout his years in the music scene, there are multiple layers to appreciate in his craft, and a genuinely thought-provoking song at the core of it all to go along with the seamless fluidity to be found within the vast complexities of the songs he composes. Always one to keep ya fully entertained in a variety of ways through a serious approach accompanied by his ever-professional instrumentation & musicianship all around, “Tyrant” is another track that confirms he’s still got a whole lot left in the tank as he surges into the next exciting chapter of his career to come.
