TK X Team Amena – “Infuse New Breath” (Mike Butler Mix) – Single Review

When I pushed play on “Infuse New Breath,” the first thing you hear is quite a pretty piano melody as the song begins, and to be honest with ya, I’d probably have been happy if the song had remained in that first gear.  As it shifts towards a more synth-driven Pop/Fantasy style of sound as the vocals came in, switching between Japanese and English singing/rapping was a good idea and a relevant approach.  Personally, as a person that barely speaks his own language fluidly, I’m endlessly fascinated that going with the dual-language method was something that caught on globally, but the facts speak for themselves – it has, and millions around the globe love hearing singers transition between two languages, if only for a moment or two.  Some of us probably find it strange…to be honest, I’m usually one of them – like, I feel like I’d ‘get it’ if it was for a verse here and a verse there, but you’re more likely to find the transitions happening mid-sentence or thought in a song like you do on “Infuse New Breath” which seems like it would require a lot of knowledge in linguistics to keep up.  That being said, music has always been the universal language, and melody tends to speak louder than anything else anyway, which remains to be true here in the case of “Infuse New Breath.”  We don’t need to catch every word in order to appreciate a well-written song in any language – and heck, you don’t even need to know every word even if you wanna sing along!  You’re welcome to make up your own I’m sure, or, as I would bet would be the case for most folks out there listening, you endear yourselves to a song through the heart of its melody.  Not only does “Infuse New Breath” have multiple languages, but it also features multiple singers, and they both sound very good.  Ultimately, it’s a BIG song…anthemic to a degree in terms of its scale and ambitious design…but I felt like TK X Team Amena hit the mark they were aiming at in making a song this monumental in scope, and that Mike Butler did a stellar job putting the polish on it.  There’s a whole list of credits you’ll find with the main video posting that detail the many players & people that play a role in Team Amena…you don’t end up with compositions this compelling, intricate, and involved without having a whole lot of help along the way.  “Infuse New Breath” came out great.
