Scarlet Jei Saoirse – “ISOLATION”

 Scarlet Jei Saoirse – “ISOLATION”

Scarlet Jei Saoirse – “ISOLATION” – Single Review

I feel seen!

And artist Scarlet Jei Saoirse should feel heard as well.

Let’s be real here for a second or two, shall we?  This world is a seriously crazy place to live.  Doesn’t really matter which part of the map you’re from as far as I can tell…there’s just consistent craziness happenin’ 24/7 whichever way you wanna turn your head and look…and it’s exhausting.  Not only is it incredibly tiring to keep up to, but there’s no outrunning it either, and you’ll never get ahead of it.  For those of you out there keeping score, you realize the odds are infinitely stacked against us all each and every day, to keep the craziness of the world at bay and simply live our lives the way that we want to.

So if that’s the case, then what is the actual solution?  What’s the responsible decision?  “ISOLATION” ain’t a bad start, that’s for sure.  Whether it’s the pressure mounting up on ya day after day, or a mood that you can’t shake, or just the pure desire to be left alone for a moment to reflect, heal, and provide yourself with a little self-care…”ISOLATION” can be one of the most effective ways of recharging.  As you’ll hear in Scarlet’s latest single, sometimes it can be induced by sadness, sometimes it’s a natural byproduct of being an outcast, sometimes “ISOLATION” is a form of seclusion we need so that we don’t become a part of the craziness this world offers, and protects us from having to pretend that we care.  The opposite can be equally true too, as she’ll point out…sometimes it’s caring too much, or being too sensitive, or trying to fix things that are irreparably broken that has us running to the corner to seek out some much needed alone time.  The point is, while a lot of people tend to look down upon withdrawing, it’s by no means a sign of weakness…in fact, it can be crucial to our mental health, and a form of healing.

No one ever says you can’t get back in the race just because you took a time out.  Heck, now that I’m an older dude, a nap in the middle of the day can sometimes be exactly what I need to go the distance and conquer a mountain’s worth of work later at night.  I spend most of my days in a sort of self-imposed exile, in “ISOLATION” to a degree…and while I’d be the first to admit, I’m socially maladjusted and more than a little bit awkward out in public these days, I honestly wouldn’t have it any other way.  I’d even go as far as to say it’s “ISOLATION” that has allowed me to be happy and find my way to the life I wanted to lead.  Saoirse might not know it yet, but she’s written a song that is going to speak to a whole lot of people out there, not just myself.  What she’s singing about on her new single is thought-provoking, highly relevant, openly vulnerable, refreshingly real…and I know that many listeners will truly appreciate her poetic perspective & insight.  Scarlet is giving a voice to how many of us feel inside, and it’s because she’s found strength in her own vulnerability that she’ll assist many others in finding their own as well.

Songs like “ISOLATION” that deal with real issues, emotions, thoughts, and feelings are more than just another single…they’re powerfully therapeutic on our side of the speakers, and also cathartic on hers.  I think she’s done a completely stellar job with “ISOLATION” from start to finish…she sings it with focus & heart without a doubt, but most importantly, understanding.  You can tell that what Scarlet’s singing about on this song comes from authentic experience…these words have substance, and they come from a very real place.  While it’s very true that she sounds exceptionally gorgeous and graceful in the way that she sings “ISOLATION,” she also leaves us with no doubt about the pain she’s been going through.

So maybe her “ISOLATION” is about self-preservation at this point in time…and if that’s the case, then hopefully Scarlet knows that’s entirely OK.  Hopefully she’s getting some support for her seclusion, even if it’s from a distance, and finds that all-important reason to return on her own terms, when she’s ready.

I am but once voice of many billions on this planet – but I can tell you firsthand that the world needs artists like Scarlet Jei Saoirse.  It’s by no means any kind of easy task to put out your thoughts & feelings as openly & honestly as she does with “ISOLATION” – and there are listeners all around the globe that will significantly benefit from the courage she’s found to sing her pain out loud and share her truth.  At the heart of it all, it’s tracks just like “ISOLATION” that will have Scarlet realizing how connected we really are more than ever…and it’s a single that’ll certainly have people hoping she doesn’t stay away for too long.  Love the lead vocals, the harmonies/backing vocals she’s put in…I love the space in this song & the way the acoustic sounds…she’s thought this through from the words to the way the music works along with’em.  Perspective & talent like this doesn’t just come along every day y’all, and it genuinely deserves to be recognized, encouraged, nurtured, and appreciated…Scarlet’s got something special that the rest don’t have.  This is a high-quality R&B/Soul song without question, and though she might sound down for the moment, I’d be willing to bet on Scarlet coming back from “ISOLATION” stronger than ever before, ready to surge into the next chapter of her story/career as an artist, to the success she deserves.
