Definitely loving what I hear in this single!
Which is a great thing, of course…I’m just saying it’s a nice change in comparison to what’s been a bit of a struggle here in April as of late – it’s awesome to put something on like “Echoes Of The Lost World” where the music has no problem connecting to the mind, body, and soul all at once, know what I mean? Don’t get me wrong, I’m always up for the challenge of finding my way into songs by artists and bands I might not normally listen to, but there’s really something to be said for putting on music in the realm of something that you WOULD regularly find on your playlist, or can listen to with ease like this single here. Because lemme tell ya folks – I’d listen to this collaborative combination of orchestral sound by Samppa Kivelä & Joose Ahonen any day of the week if it all sounds like what I hear on “Echoes Of The Lost World” – this song is beautifully majestic, melodic, mysterious, and pretty much all-out EPIC if you ask me. Filled with exploratory & expressive sound that is genuinely intriguing to the ears at every moment throughout its many twists & turns, Samppa & Joose have achieved that authentically rare accomplishment of creating compelling music that’s entirely entertaining, and equally endearing.
As far as I understand it, “Echoes Of The Lost World” is actually the title-track from their collaborative album that has recently been released, which contains ten songs. This cut happens to be the very first thing you hear on the record, and I can’t imagine a more enticing choice could have been made – “Echoes Of The Lost World” is an exquisite instrumental gem that sparkles and shines with drama, tension, serenity, and stunning beauty as it plays. The versatility in this composition is nothing short of remarkable, and the execution should seriously leave you in awe of what has been accomplished here. While I’m not entirely sure of who does what or plays what role in everything we hear, it’s clear we couldn’t ask anything more of these two incredible artists based on the flawless fluidity we find within “Echoes Of The Lost World.” You regular readers here know that I’m not ever one to mince words or tell you anything less than the full truth of what I’m hearing – and if there was something I thought they could be doing better, I’d be the first to tell ya. The reality is, “Echoes Of The Lost World” is brilliantly well-conceived and just as powerfully played – it’s a truly moving piece of music. Whether it’s the most intense moments that you feel right in your chest as the thunderous drums reach their peak, or the soothing calm of the shimmering melody that dances atop of it all as you listen, Kivelä & Ahonen have created a multi-faceted composition that is guaranteed to earn your full attention. It’s the kind of adventurous instrumental song that really feels like it has taken you right out of your world and transported you into theirs – you can practically see a song as vivid as this in your mind as you listen to it. You connect with its most evocative moments, you feel the sensory sound at work, and you really can’t help but to enjoy the ride as “Echoes Of The Lost World” reveals its most thrilling peaks along the way. This is the kind of song that takes you on a journey, and one that you’ll be thankful to experience.
Definitely giving this a big ol’ thumbs up from me. I think whether or not you’re a natural far of instrumental or orchestral music, you’re more than likely to recognize the awesomeness in a single like this – it’s basically impossible not to. From the masterful way that it’s been played, to the stellar sound production & remarkable variation you find in its composition, Kivelä & Ahonen have simply left nothing out, and their attention to detail on “Echoes Of The Lost World” is straight-up award-worthy. It’s a truly breathtaking & awe-inspiring single they’ve got here, and it certainly makes sense to me that it would have become the centerpiece of their brand-new album based on everything I’ve heard. These two fascinating artists have certainly got the magic of music down to a science, and they’ve definitely put their talents to work on a single such as this. It’s one thing to listen to great song in this world dear readers, dear friends – but it’s another thing entirely to experience music like this that you feel honored to have had the privilege to hear. This is audible art at its finest, and both Samppa & Joose should be incredibly proud of how well it’s come out – there’s simply nothing not to love about their title-track, and it gives everyone listening every reason to want to find out what the rest of their album sounds like.
