Pop and its many sub-genres has definitely been enjoying a very strong start to 2025 so far. Add Zimmira to the growing list of artists contributing to that – I really dig what I’m hearing on her brand-new single “Tik Tock.” She has an absolutely stellar voice, radiates confidence, and clearly understands how to slide right into the moment to get the best out of her performance when it comes time to hit record. She delivers an immediate impact from the very first seconds that you hear her voice, and it becomes crystal clear right from the drop that Zimmira has a sensational blend of style and technique that is a genuine recipe for success. While she’s making it unequivocally known that at least one, or perhaps a few people out there, have found their way onto her naughty list through their actions, the sound of an artist thriving in what they create continues to remain one of the most inviting & enticing sounds to our ears. Zimmira has been provoked by someone “using my name out loud” – and here on “Tik Tock,” she’s returned fire like the verbal equivalent of a double-barrel shotgun from close range, virtually eliminating whatever was threatening to stand in her way by pure force and sonic ferocity.
Make no mistake though, just because you might be writing from a pissed off perspective, or in a moment that’s got you feeling some type of way, doesn’t mean that the music necessarily needs to completely echo that, otherwise I’d reckon Zimmira would be singing for a Death Metal band based on what we hear in her lyricism on “Tik Tock.” Instead, she’s stayed true to her own style, and locked right into the intensity of her emotions to get the message across in an unmistakable way…and in my opinion, she’s accomplished exactly what she set out to do. You don’t wanna cross this amazing lady, that much I can tell ya. Unless you wanna find yourself being the target of a song like “Tik Tock” one day, it’s probably best that you mind your own business, and treat people with some goddamn respect y’all! It ain’t like that should be hard to do…as to why so many struggle with doin’ that, I literally have no idea.
Anyhow. Zimmira’s got it…she’s got that undeniable X-factor that you’re always hoping to find in great Pop music. She’s adding in some Soul and a little R&B in the mix to make the potential reach of a song like this expand even further…and of course, you’ve got a digitally-infused beat to go along with it, so really, you’re essentially experience the hybrid vibes of four genres bonded together as one, with a superstar right in the center of the spotlight that can’t help but steal the entire show. Armed with her personality and brilliant instincts when it comes to how to perform, Zimmira is easily going to stand out from the rest out there, which is honestly an accomplishment to be proud of when you consider how tough that can be do on the inside of Pop music. I love the way she’s got the structure and melody so mapped out…syllable for syllable, she’s designed “Tik Tock” to PUNCH YOU WITH WORDS, and she lands every single one of’em with supreme force. Haymaker after haymaker, Zimmira delivers a real knockout with “Tik Tock,” and hits back at all the fools out there for being judgemental & not thinking before they speak. If the haters are smart, they’ll think twice in the future after hearing this, that much I can tell ya.
It’s about finding poise under pressure…it’s about precision when it comes time to perform…it’s about rising up when people try to keep you down – I’m tellin’ y’all, Zimmira gets all of this, 100%, and she proves that through what you’ll hear on “Tik Tock.” She’s completely awesome with the lead vocals you’ll hear on this single, but she’s also equally impressive with how she’s doing the backup vocals as well. I mean…in a world where you have to wonder who really has your back to begin with, go with the person that you trust the most, right? Zimmira’s backing herself up on “Tik Tock,” and in the process, she reveals that she’s the only ingredient required to get you listening. Sure the music is nice to have alongside her, and it definitely fits the vibe she was looking to create – but like I was tellin’ ya before, it’s the main star of the show that we can’t take our ears off of for all the right reasons. I definitely dig what I’m hearing in Zimmira’s new single, and there’s not a doubt in my mind that I’d listen to more from her anytime in the future to follow. Heck, even if she wants to sing the phonebook, sign me up, I’ll listen.
