 General Housekeeping

I know, I know…it’s been a while since there’s been a blog posting here – 100% my fault.

You see…I was busy humming & hawing over internet providers & hosts & whatnot when SBS needed a savage upgrade, trying to figure out the next move.  As a result of my waiting, a whole bunch of shit went crazy for a bit there…space was limited, blog posts stopped altogether to conserve space…hell, I even deleted a few photos in the meantime just to make some extra room…your music has been that incredible that sleepingbagstudios outgrew itself once again, proudly.  Still – I should have upgraded this beast long ago, and you have my sincere apologies for taking so long to get my head back in the game in that regard.

So!  It’s been done…those of you regular readers out there will likely already have noticed the improved speed, loading time on pages, and functionality overall.  Enjoy it!  I know I have been.  I’m no different than the rest of you in the sense that I need to access these pages for multiple reasons every day, and being able to do that quickly, consistently, and without things timing out has been nothing but pure awesomeness.  I’ll have this blog section whipped back into shape in no time, starting with this here post.

For those of you brave enough to have clicked this to find out what’s up…here’s what else I can tell ya (briefly) is coming soon…

  • The SBS Best New Sound of the year is nearly here!  If you’ve submitted an album or an EP throughout 2020 at some point, you were eligible!  Our nominations will begin as always on December 6th for ten days straight…and then we’ll figure out how we’re voting on it all from there.  I ain’t gonna lie, we’re not exactly sure how we’re going about this one just yet, so some changes in the format might be made, but we’ll let ya know with plenty of time.
  • The SBS Podcast will come back officially on December 4th to help celebrate the final Bandcamp Friday special of the year – and yep, it’ll be a Proof Of Purchase episode once again, to help highlight what we’ve been spending our own hard-earned dough on from the independent music-scene in 2020.
  • I’m also currently in the process of writing the long-anticipated follow-up to one of our most read articles, “A Resolution To Steel My Resolve” to give you a proper update on everything this place has been through since that was posted up back in 2017…seems like a lifetime ago & there’s lots to fill you in on.  I ain’t gonna lie to ya, I started writing it in July…and I’ve scrapped about eight different versions of it between now & then, but I’m determined to get that out there, and get the details of this whole story down right.  Probably coming in the New Year…at least let’s hope, fingers crossed.
  • Starting in 2021, we’ll be launching free monthly interviews.  We’ll still have the option of doing more intimately designed close-up one-on-ones available, but we’ll also be running a more basic five question set on a different topic each month throughout the year, which you’re all welcome to take part in.  It’ll be a quick & easy way to get you & your music on the page, have some fun with us, get a few questions answered, and promo your music in the process. Dig it!

Okay…like I said, just a quick update for now.  Behind the scenes here, when I’m not writing reviews & posting videos & whatnot, I’ve been drowning in writing press releases & bios & such…and I should probably get back to that asap.  As always, thank YOU so much for your support, thank you for reading our pages, watching & listening to our shows, liking our posts, and all the amazing things you do along with us in our mission to assist the independent music-scene – I’m endlessly thankful for each and every one of you, and very much looking forward to the future to come.

– Jer @ SBS
