Eleven Dollar Bills – “Waves”

 Eleven Dollar Bills – “Waves”

Eleven Dollar Bills – “Waves” – Single Review

They created the one.  Depending on where you live, they created the two.  They created the five and the ten…and now here we are with Eleven Dollar Bills.

And life is GOOD!

The real currency here is their fantastic grip on their style, sound & songwriting.  Their entire sound on the new single “Waves” is accessible as it gets…so slick & well-crafted they ALMOST cross the threshold into the guilty-pleasures category.  Because…you’ll like it…heck, you’ll probably LOVE it like I do…but if there’s ever a time within the past five-years of writing for sleepingbagstudios that I’ve ever felt like I’ve been held HOSTAGE by my own ears and given NO CHOICE but to dig something…well…this is it.

Who could resist this song?  Honestly!  I’m asking.  I want to meet that one grumpy-ass person & punch them in the face with this song over and over until it leaves them with a permanent smile.

There is a ton to be proud of here – “Waves” is a serious triumph and example of ironing out every corner until the result is so flawlessly smooth that you can’t help but sink deep right into it.  There are so many addictive qualities in this single from the music to the vocals that if I tried to count them all on my hand I’d easily run out of fingers, no joke.  Reminiscent of modern bands that have a more playful style/sound to them along the lines of reliable sources of entertainment like The Getaway People, Wide Mouth Mason, Better Than Ezra, The Submarines, Pugwash…with a bit more of a respectful nod to some truly classic tunes, artists & bands from the psych-60’s & early 70’s in here too if you ask me.  Everything about “Waves” has you floating in true audio-bliss with a massively uplifting sound that purely can’t be denied.  This is the very definition of accessibility in audible form.

Credit to Eleven Dollar Bills…the entire band plays a huge role in the success of this tune.  Rhythm section is right on-point, the guitars are insanely cool and the charismatic delivery on the mic from singer Jordan Casty is pretty much guaranteed to have people lining up at the front of the stage to see these guys live.  They’ve really got the magic shared between them – Eleven Dollar Bills is a brilliantly talented & cohesive band and you can hear how well they truly work together in every moment on “Waves.”  The melodic hooks of the verse and the chorus of this song are monumental – and backing them up, accenting each moment along the way with perfection, is equally stunning instrumentation.  “Waves” is mapped-out as good as it gets and executed with a high-level of professionalism you seriously only ever expect to find in the mainstream – this band is 100% ready for the next-level.

From what I can tell from checking them out online…it looks like Eleven Dollar Bills are finally back to the music after spending the time over the past four years writing & recording their upcoming EP.  Time can make all the difference in the world…and if taking that extra time, care and effort leads to stellar results like you hear on “Waves” – who on earth would complain?  Seriously…I’m asking.  I want to meet that person too for the same reasons outlined above earlier.

To their fans out there…I’ll admit, I’m just catching up and jumping on the Eleven Dollar Bills train now and don’t have a comparison to their previous sound…but from my own personal experience, the end results here on “Waves” absolutely has to have been worth the waiting.  Completely impressed with these guys…not a single doubt in my mind that the stunningly accessible sound of Eleven Dollar Bills could go on to be a seriously huge hit with the people out there – this is just damn fine music…no argument could possibly be made otherwise.
