It’s all about refinement y’all.

Don’t get me wrong, if you were to go and listen to the original “Silver Surfer” from Druskii, I’m pretty damn confident that you’d enjoy it – but I do feel like the spin that DJ D-Rocc has put on it makes it that much better.  It’s tighter, it’s shinier, it’s got a bit more noticeable flash and flair to it – and all that’s likely do to the fact that DJ D-Rocc is certainly no stranger to the music business.  The guy has got all kinds of platinum records and Grammy nominations on his resume so far from what I’ve read about the man, and within a single listen to his take on “Silver Surfer,” I can guarantee you’ll understand why he’s racked up so many accolades throughout his career as quickly as he has.

Like I said from the start, it’s about refinement…and if you listen to the difference between the original version of “Silver Surfer” out there, and this one here from D-Rocc, you can’t help but notice the way that he’s enhanced all the right elements of this single to entice you in.  It’s brighter in the mix, it uses the beat a lot more efficiently…it might even be a tick or two up tempo from that version you already know, but not so much that it warps the sound of what makes this an all-around great song.  What I love about DJ D-Rocc’s version is that he’s really brought out the sparkle and shine of the beat & the bass combined, and it sounds like he was also able to get a better mix from the microphone as well.  Don’t get me wrong, it’s a little tough to tell in flipping back & forth between the original and this variation supplied by DJ D-Rocc in terms of just how much he’s done to each individual part of “Silver Surfer,” which is why it’s a whole lot easier to simply tell ya that it sounds like he got right under the hood to see what he could bring to it all.  Everything sounds just that much better, like D-Rocc was able to identify the 10-15% that was missing from its original mix, and then supplies it.  As a result, the level of glitz and gloss on “Silver Surfer” seems to go way up, which ends up giving this single the club vibe it needed.  In my opinion, this particular mix also sharpens up the main hooks that Druskii supplies in the chorus, and that simply makes this cut even more irresistible and addictive than it already was, you feel me?  It’s about a minute shorter than the version Druskii has out there, and that’s probably my opinion real substantial complaint – DJ D-Rocc has got this track so flawlessly balanced in its strengths that I would have happily taken a minute MORE of it in the way that it sounds now, never mind shortening it and fading it out!  But hey, as I always tell ya on these pages of ours, that’s what the repeat button is for.

Believe me when I tell that I’ve used it, many times.  I’ve spent a significant amount of time this week with DJ D-Rocc’s “Silver Surfer” featuring Druskii, and I’ve road tested this single looking for any signs of wear & tear with repeat spins, and I haven’t found any.  This holds up STRONG y’all!  D-Rocc has fully revitalized and refreshed this hit from back in 2020 to make it even more relevant now five years after its initial release…and that ain’t exactly easy to do.  You’ve gotta have some vision and an in-depth understanding of the source material, along with the confidence & talent required to bring something new to it – but that’s precisely where D-Rocc succeeds.  He clearly knew he could kick the tires on the original and find a way to increase its alluring sound, which is exactly what you’ll find that he did here.

You all know I just call things like I hear’em – so trust me when I tell ya, this is the fire you’re lookin’ for in your speakers this year.  It’s smooth, it’s slick, it’s audible perfection if I’m being entirely real with ya, and I can’t imagine any set of ears out there coming to a different conclusion than that.  The wild degree of universal sound at work here is practically unrivalled.  Druskii’s vocals are stunning, the main hooks you’ll hear in “Silver Surfer” are undeniable, and the hybrid way that D-Rocc has dialed this all in to seamlessly blend its Pop/R&B/Soul sound is nothing short of completely award-worthy.  Hell, the way he’s got the drums to really pop outta your speakers alone is worth the price of admission, and I can promise you there’s a whole lot more to love about the way he’s tinkered with this tune to get it as tight as tight can be.  Clearly an artist on the decks and behind the studio boards, DJ D-Rocc unleashes the full potential in a classic vibe that you do not wanna miss out on this year – so don’t!  “Silver Surfer” from DJ D-Rocc featuring Druskii is out there and available online now, waiting for you to tune in and turn it UP.
