SBS Live This Week 209

Don’t get me wrong, y’all know I have seen a LOT of shows roll through Vancouver – but it was practically shocking to see just how much appreciation the city has for Jazz music!  Maybe it has to be made by legends like Snarky Puppy for that side of Vancouver to reveal itself, but it was genuinely moving to see how much the crowd at The Commodore Ballroom freakin’ revered this incredible band, and they definitely showed up to share their love when they toured in 2023.  Truly awesome to see it!  We get that rap of being ‘no fun city’ from the media so much, but they’ve clearly never been to the shows that come through Vancouver.  Snarky Puppy played a fantastic set full of wildly intricate musicianship and made the most of every moment they had onstage at The Commodore for a crowd that couldn’t get enough of’em.  Come see what we saw – and stick around for a bonus video from some other titans of modern-day jazz, through the music of GoGo Penguin and their time at the Hollywood Theatre from a couple years ago on this episode of SBSLTW!
