Regrettably, this recognition of Ludwik Konopko’s incredible work is being done posthumously.  I have been a massive fan of this dude’s music from the first day I heard him play back in 2022, and I’ve pretty much ravenously consumed the catalog of his tunes ever since.  It wasn’t until I was reviewing his latest album Serenity this year, that I was informed he had tragically passed on the year before in 2024 (R.I.P. Ludwik).  Leaving behind a legacy of music that any artist would have been proud to have created, to say that Konopko was taken before his time is a massive understatement – the planet was robbed of a true virtuoso that played with impeccable technique and unrivaled passion.  With Serenity, Ludwik chose to create an album in tribute to a ton of artists and bands he personally loved & admired, covering a true wealth of material that explored the depths of Konopko’s inspirations from throughout music’s history.  A pure delight from start to finish, listening to Ludwik’s acoustic interpretations of some really massive hits and other songs that he admired was nothing short of a privilege…he made the kind of music that enhanced and enriched every one of his listener’s lives.  Join us in recognizing a true legend – his music continues to live on…and it deserves to be in our top ten for this year’s quest for the Best New Sound.
