While we technically only had an assignment to check out a modest handful of songs from Kaya Bahia’s album Closure, we simply couldn’t stop listening once we started.  Gifted with an immaculate voice that sparkles and shines through her expressive technique, Kaya’s vocals are truly remarkable to listen to.  She’s got the kind of angelic voice that is capable of making bold Pop music that is guaranteed to last.  Rather than create a bunch of easy to digest hooks the genre is known for, Bahia dove so much deeper than the rest tend to, and mined out a powerful treasure trove of songs that resonated strongly in the hearts and minds of everyone listening.  Unafraid to make the kind of evocative connection to her music and to her audience that’ll stand the test of time, Kaya mixed the substance & style within her material perfectly, creating a lineup of songs on Closure that could just as easily make you dance as make you cry.  A mere sample of what the extraordinarily talented Kaya Bahia brings to the scene would have never been enough to keep us satisfied – one of the best decisions we made this year was to keep listening to Closure.  Join us in congratulating her for reaching spot #7 in this year’s quest for our Best New Sound!
