One of the most intriguing records we stumbled onto this year was also one of the shortest included into our list this year.  After Reno’s self-titled EP, consisting of three songs, was nothing short of purely remarkable to listen to, filled with a dark Americana sound that would make the hairs stand up on the back of your neck as you make your way through the highly sensory experience they put together.  A potent duo that put the emphasis on stellar songwriting and never compromised when it came time to record their ideas, the After Reno EP might have been a short set of songs, but they all proved to be extremely memorable.  From the sensationally expressive vocals of Phil Tobin, to the gripping sincerity of guitarist Chris Gould, the After Reno EP wasn’t just a typical lineup of songs you listen to – you felt every single ticking moment of the set-list from start to finish.  A true case of it becoming impossible to even dare to pick a favorite from its three inclusions, that only made After Reno’s EP even more impressive to listen to when considering the fact that each song brought out a whole new dimension of what the duo could create together.  In what also appeared to be only the band’s second year so far, it was also their most productive & the most encouraging for sure – they’ve got an astounding authenticity to their whole vibe that most of us would kill to possess this early on into a career.  Join us in congratulating After Reno for their tremendous efforts this year, and securing spot number four in our quest for the Best New Sound of 2025.
