Sometimes you just know.  When we first heard that Sanny Veloo was making a full length record this year, it was practically a forgone conclusion that he’d end up in our top ten at the end of 2025.  A legendary talent that is just as talented of a singer as he is a guitar player as he is a songwriter, the stunning balance shared between his skills is what led him to a resounding victory over the course of the nine songs included on I’ve Got You My Friend.  While it’s certainly true that we’ve always been giant fans of Veloo’s work throughout the years, hearing him thriving on his latest record was a serious treat that exceeded all our wildest hopes and any expectations we could have had.  An album without a single ounce of dead weight, I’ve Got You My Friend blasted us through a full lineup of single-worthy songs, loaded up with the supreme Alt-Rock sound we love to hear from Sanny, at the same time as revealing some of the most compelling material we’ve heard from the man so far.  We knew the hits would be coming at us hot & ready to roll straight out to radio – that’s a given when it comes to Veloo’s inherent knack for creating universal sound – but to hear him take his music to such a magnificently deeper place at points throughout the set-list was nothing short of extraordinary.  I’ve Got You My Friend essentially plays like its own mini Rock Opera of sorts, and highlights the insatiably addictive passion that Sanny brings to his music in the kaleidoscopically colorful ways the rest out there just ain’t capable of.  From the highest of highs to the lowest of lows, Veloo proved to be unafraid to dive deeper than he ever has before in a sincere effort to create his most engaging & personal record to-date, and DAMN did it work!  We’re probably just as stoked as he is that I’ve Got You My Friend turned out as well as it did.  If you really love tunes you can turn up & sing along with loud & proud, you absolutely NEED this record.  Join us in congratulating Sanny Veloo for reaching the top three in this year’s quest for our Best New Sound!
