Hyper Harmony – “Ranjhana” Feat. Shenarina – Single Review

Stellar!  Hyper Harmony has got this new single sounding spectacular…the production you’ll find on this track is pretty much second to none, bringing a crystal clarity to a cross-cultural cut that many people are sure to dig on.  In fact, I know that’s the truth – anyone out there can see by the numbers of hits on “Ranjhana” having reached over the million-mark within less than nine months on YouTube alone, that the people are definitely listening and tuning in to see what this collaborative effort created in 2022.

The success on this single makes sense to me.  While there’s no doubt that it’s a short sample of what Hyper Harmony is capable of at less than 2:30 in total length, the maximum effort has been made in terms of the sonic depth to be found in this EDM single.  No lie – when you listen & read the words on “Ranjhana,” you’ll realize that it’s not exactly the happiest song you’re gonna hear this year, but again, the numbers don’t lie – people all around the globe genuinely connect with music that’s made sincerely and songs that contains a range of emotions we identify with & relate to like this one here has.  I’ve said many times that I don’t need the tunes I’m checking out to be all happy-happy…I just need things to be REAL – and “Ranjhana” hits the mark in that regard.  Like…for example – LOOK at this line in one of the main hooks:  “This feels like the end of who I am” – that’s freakin’ DEVASTATING y’all – but it WORKS.  We can authentically FEEL a lyric like that, because chances are, you’ve been there yourself – we’ve all felt that crushing sting of love gone south, and know what it feels like to lose someone we care about.

From the mix assisted by audio engineer Calvin Dixon, to the guest appearance from Shenarina – all hands on deck deserve real credit for creating this heartfelt EDM moment in time…I don’t think a track like “Ranjhana” will have any trouble at all finding the audience it deserves, and again, clearly it HAS already.  Apparently they’ve got the whole NFT thing set up for this single too if that’s your jam, which is cool – it might not be my thing personally, but it shows that Hyper Harmony is forward thinking when it comes to how to put the music out there and reach people through a variety of different methods.  It all stacks up strong if you ask me – “Ranjhana” looks good onscreen through the video, sounds fantastic through the speakers, and delivers on an authentic experience that blends different cultures seamlessly together.  Ultimately, it’s tracks just like this one here that open the doors for others to exist – Hyper Harmony might not even realize it, but tracks like “Ranjhana” are important to the scene, and help break down barriers for new artists/bands out there in the future to follow that incorporate crossover sound into their music.  With great power comes great responsibility, as they say – and from the looks of things already, Hyper Harmony is making the most of their moment & their presence felt all over the internet.

Diggin’ the drone footage in the video…I love the added use of effects…it’s all highly effective stuff from sight to sound really – Hyper Harmony might be on shaky emotional terrain in the theme of a song like this, but overall, it’s clear this project is standing on solid ground and set to surge forward in the future.
