Doug Cash – “Child Alone” – Music Video Post

Now here’s a track that the vast majority of us should all be able to get behind – artist Doug Cash has put out a brand-new single/video speaking up against child abuse, as directly as it gets, through his song called “Child Alone.”  Using stark imagery that illustrates the points he’s making, Doug cuts right to the quick in the very first lines of “Child Alone,” singing: “Power Rangers and Cookie Monsters, not oral and anal abuse” – you see what I was sayin’?  It don’t get much more direct than our friend Doug does here.

While the song itself focuses deeply on the issue at hand and gives you a plethora of vivid details that makes the case soundly in a way that every sane person out there would agree with, the video focuses more on the freedom that kids should be experiencing in a life without worries.  Safe from harm, playing in the fields and parks, enjoying the outdoors and the summer sunshine – the way things SHOULD be.  Obviously that’s not the way things ARE, otherwise Doug wouldn’t have ever had to write this song to begin with – but hopefully, by being as frank as he is with his words on this Country/Blues tune, he’s helped the situation by creating more awareness surrounding a topic that too often stays hidden in the dark corners of society.  By shining light directly on the issue of child abuse throughout his words on “Child Alone,” Doug serves as a bold reminder that there are far too many people around the world that are still severely affected by horrific & traumatic events like what he describes in his words, every single day – and the hope of course, is that by calling it out, the number of children affected may potentially be fewer.  Maybe someone out there hears this track and it stops them from doing something completely monstrous to somebody one day – literally, every little bit counts when it comes to creating awareness.

A combination of message & music that’s essential to combatting the problem head-on, proves that it’s still one of the most effective tools we have against injustices taking place all over the globe.  I am proud of the fact that in the face of some of the most heinous things we experience on this planet, music & art have always stood up when it’s been needed most, and I’m thankful there are folks out there like Doug that are willing to fight the good fight right out in the open, when far too many people continue to stay silent.  It might make you uncomfortable to listen to it, despite Cash’s smooth Country/Blues groove – but that is entirely the point dear readers, dear friends – child abuse is not a topic that should make anyone feel great – only the absence of it should; and unfortunately, as a species, we’ve still got a very long way to go before that’s truly going to be the case and this scourge is eradicated from this planet that we share.

That being said – Doug’s got a few suggestions on how we can speed up the process if you’re paying close attention to his words on “Child Alone” – and I reckon that you should be – songs like this are more than music, and important on a social level that’s well-beyond mere entertainment – so listen up.
