Best New Sound 2016 Nomination: The Quality Of Mercury

Best New Sound 2016 Nomination: The Quality Of Mercury

Through an entire host of otherworldly themes and extraordinary depth in sound, The Quality Of Mercury pulled off a stunning achievement in the thickness of atmosphere & sonics with the release of the album Transmission in the first-half of this year.  What you might/might-not know – is that The Quality Of Mercury is actually the project of ONE man…Jeremiah Rouse – and in my opinion, what he achieved on this record…from the intensely wild & creative ideas to the stunningly focused performances and the absolutely immaculate production…it all deserves a serious shout-out.  Those out there that know me well know I’d never throw out a comparison to the band Failure without seriously meaning it…absolutely LOVE that band…listening to Transmission from The Quality Of Mercury, you’ll notice that similar punch in the production…but with a little less gloom and more melody added into the entire adventure; what Jeremiah pulled off with this record was actually making that entire sound/style more accessible than its ever been.  With endless creativity and completely bold clarity in sound – The Quality Of Mercury absolutely had to make my list this year.

The Quality Of Mercury is one of ten official nominations to this year’s SBS Reader Vote for Best New Sound 2016 beginning Dec. 14th – congrats to this incredible one-man band!
